Common FAQs for Raw Cat Food

How do I order?
1. Read the FAQs on the Home Page
2. Click GET STARTED on the Home Page
3. Enter your pet's details - ensure all fields are entered. We need this data in order to customise your pet's meals correctly.
4. Select the meal type - Natural (raw) or Sous Vide (gently cooked)
5. Be sure to select a meal protein or meat that you KNOW your pet is good with.
6. Select any allergies that your pet may have to ensure we exclude such allergens from your pet's meals.
7. Select any add-ons from our Add-On section (within the order page) to trial any new meats. Add-ons are highly recommended to test meats on your pet before you rotate to them in your next order.

How do I thaw and serve the meals?
Both our Sous Vide and Natural meals are frozen. For thawing, you can transfer up to 2 days' worth of meal packs from the freezer into the fridge to thaw at a controlled and safe temperature. For a quicker thaw, you may immerse the frozen meal packs at room temperature water for 15-20 minutes. If your pets prefer warmer food, the water bath can be warm water but not so warm that it scalds your hand. Leave the meal pack in the warm water for 5-10 mins

Upon receiving your first delivery, you will also receive an instructional Raw Feeding Guide for easy reference on hygiene and handling.
How will I know if my furkid is ready to move on to Natural raw meals after being on Sous Vide cooked meals?
This depends on your comfort level and your furkid’s stool output. Many variables can, including allergies or overcomplexity, determine the wetness of stool. In general, if your pet’s stools are well-formed and firm on our Sous Vide meals, they can move on to our Natural meals (using similar ingredients) with minimal risk. If in doubt, message BB Support.
Differences between Transition Plan, Standard Plan, and Advanced Plan. Which should I choose?
Transition Plan: A gentle and limited plan for those new to raw feeding; in need of allergy elimination; or starting simple for pets with sensitive guts. Offals will be matched/fixed to the muscle meat type selected in the meal plan. Ground bones will be the default bone option unless you opt for bone exclusion. The only meal balancer available is Fibre+.

Standard Plan: For pets familiar with raw-feeding, this will provide nutritionally optimised meals with access to all options such as: meal balancers, offal rotation, and bone types.

Advanced Plan: For experienced feeders who know exactly what their pet’s nutritional requirements and tolerances are. Meals will be constructed accordingly to your specifications for all components. Please note that nutritional support will be limited if you choose Advanced Plan.

Choose Transition Plan:
1. If you are uncertain of your pet’s allergies
2. If you are new to raw feeding
3. If your pet has a sensitive gut
4. If your pet has not discovered minimum of 3 proteins to rotate

Meat chunk sizes
Our meals contain meat chunks ranging from 2cm to 4cm pieces. If you feel that these pieces are too large for your pet (especially in the case of toothless pets), do cut them smaller.

It is every owner’s responsibility to know their pets’ eating habits and preferences.

Do bear in mind that with smaller pieces, your pet may be more prone to ‘gulping’/swallowing without chewing, which can present other life-threatening risks e.g. bloat or GDV (Gastric Dilatation Volvulus).

We do not practice feeding minced or ground meats as the vitamins and myoglobin (oxygen-binding protein located primarily in muscles) found in whole meats have been shown to degrade in the process of mincing and oxidation. Consuming meats that do not retain vitamins will eventually lead to deficiency and health issues, while reduced myoglobin may result in anemia.

Furthermore, minced or ground meats are more prone to rapid pathogenic bacteria spread and give no dental benefit. Plus, it's always nice to see what you're feeding your pets as opposed to wondering what's in a mashed-up patty!
